Overview
Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is a 2-day course that teaches Scrum in a highly practical way. Students hit the ground running through instruction and team-based exercises.

Working in a series of Sprints, teams of students build a software application, thereby facing real-life problems. The mechanics, roles, principles and (empirical) process of Scrum are demonstrated. Common missteps and misunderstandings are discussed so students grow a higher awareness of their symptoms.

Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is the training for teams and anyone wanting to experience the Scrum way of working. The course also provides the foundation of knowledge needed for role-focused training for Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Developers, as offered in Scrum.org’s Professional Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Product Owner and Professional Scrum Development classes.

The class introduces the mechanics of Scrum, as well as provides insights into complexity, team-based collaboration and self-organization as essential elements in mastering Scrum. Students will experience how the Scrum framework improves product development efforts.

From its emphasis on practical application the course exposes common missteps, increases the awareness of the associated symptoms, and provides prescriptive guidance to avoid going off track.

Overview
The two-day Professional Scrum with Kanban (PSK) course teaches Scrum practitioners how to apply Kanban practices in their work. Through theory, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will understand the importance of transparency and flow in relation to the Scrum framework.

In this course, students will learn how Scrum Teams can add additional Kanban practices while continuing to work with Scrum, all without changing Scrum.

The PSM course is much more than just a set of slides and an instructor. In this course, students work on real-life cases with other classmates together as a team. This course is made up of discussions and hands-on exercises based upon reallife cases.

The 2-day Professional Scrum Master II (PSM II) course is an advanced class designed to support Scrum Masters in their professional development. Unlike the Professional Scrum Master (PSM) course which focuses on how to use Scrum, the Scrum framework and the role of the Scrum Master, PSM II is an advanced course which helps students to understand the stances that characterize an effective Scrum Master and servant-leader. The class dives deep into how Scrum Masters serve the Scrum Team, Product Owner, and the organization. Students will learn about areas critical to growing as a successful Scrum Master such as how the principles and values of Scrum help guide Scrum Masters in the decisions they make and how the Scrum Master can help change the environment of Scrum Teams, creating the conditions for agility to thrive. Students will also explore related practices and skills which will enable them to have the right types of conversations and how to apply them to become better Scrum Masters. Throughout the class, your PST will provide stories, exercises, facilitation techniques (such as “Liberating Structures”), resources, and more.

Students are challenged to think within the Scrum framework, the underlying principles and values, and how they help guide Scrum Masters in the decisions they make. Students will also explore what practices, tools, skills, and stances make an effective Scrum Master.

Overview
In this 2-day Scaled Professional Scrum (SPS) workshop, students will simulate a large software development project using the Nexus™ framework. The workshop is delivered using an end-to-end case study where students work together to organize and simulate a scaled software development project. Throughout the workshop, students will be introduced to more than 50 practices that can be used to help reduce complexity and dependencies at scale. The workshop will provide students with an understanding of how to launch, structure, staff, and manage a large Agile project using Scrum. Throughout the workshop, students will learn the infrastructure, tools and practices needed to successfully scale Scrum to maximize the value of their software development initiative. By taking a hands-on approach, students are fully engaged in the learning process where they see first-hand the challenges in large-scale development initiatives and solutions for getting the work back on track. They will leave the workshop with techniques to detect irregularities and how to address them appropriately.

This course is designed as an experiential workshop where students learn how to scale Scrum using the Nexus™ framework. Throughout, you are introduced to the artifacts and events within the framework, the new Nexus Integration Team role, along with more than 50 associated practices.
