Right in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town, with really easy transport links and Waverley Train Station only five minutes walk away, this is a great location for your course. You’ll enjoy natural daylight whichever room you’re in and plenty of tea varieties, Colombian Fairtrade coffee, chilled water, cordials, sweets, pads and pens to keep you going. There is free WIFI throughout the venue for your personal devices, as well as a number of PC’s in the coffee lounge that you’re welcome to use in your breaks. We also have a number of charging points in the coffee lounge for the most popular Apple and Android phones and tablets, so if you run out of battery, it shouldn’t be an issue. With a restaurant on-site, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a change of scene from your training room, allowing you to catch up with the others on your course and sit in a relaxed environment, breaking up the day. The lunch menu changes every day so if you’re with us for a whole week or more, you can select a different option each day. There are hot dishes and a salad special on the menu everyday, as well as jacket potatoes, wraps, sandwiches and baguettes. You can have dessert as well if you still have room! Breakfast is available too, with sausage, egg or bacon in a roll or on toast, as well as a selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruit. If you like history, this venue has plenty of it and has been used for a wide variety of activities. Amongst other things, the size and location helped its use as a school, a cinema and even a Fringe venue (St Mary’s Hall) where you may have seen The Cambridge Footlights performing.

St. Mary's Street dates back to the late 1860s when the former St Mary's Wynd, part of the worst slum in Europe, was demolished as a result of the 1867 Edinburgh Improvement Act. The architects, Cousin and Lessels, designed the Scottish baronial style buildings on our side of the street, some of them intended for workers and artisans - not for the residents who had previously lived in the area, who were too poor to afford the rents!
